What IS this motorcycle?
I recently took trade of a motorcycle, for some parts I had for a Trike project gone sour. I’m handicapped and needed a traditional bike so I can use hand controls and my right leg. Anyway, I have this monster-big custom that was built in the early 70’s. The bike only has a round medalion on the gas tank that says “The Phoenix”. The story is that a man in Casa Grande Arizona built 17 of these to become a manufacturer. He needed 24, but took ill and past on. This thing is heavy, with a lower springer, has 13 inch car tires and wheels, is powered with a Ford pinto engine. The driveline is simple, a centrifugal clutch mounted on the flywheel, direct shaft to a 90degree gear box, and chain to the rear wheel. The rest of this thing is an eclectic blend of fabrication and converted items, like trailer fenders, and a Moto Guzzi gas tank. I have pictures if anyone can help me identify it.
