Female Motorcycle Models
What motorcycle would be a good next step for me? ?
I’m a 5′2″ female presently riding a Honda Reflex (250). I really enjoy riding my scooter, but would like to have a motorcycle as well. I have taken the MSF class and been riding regularly for the past 4 months. I have been looking at the Honda Shadow, but was wondering about other models.
I can’t believe how RUDE some folks can be! Your size has nothing to do with your ability to pick up a motorcycle. The MSF course teaches you how to do that. I have a friend who’s wife took the course. She rides a Harley Dyna Low Rider. She can can pick up a 1000 pound BMW police bike and I have seen her do it. It has nothing to do with your size! Test ride as many different bikes as you can. Decide what kind of riding you will be doing most, and base your purchase on the type of riding you want to mostly do. If it’s mostly city rides, any bike in the 350 to 600 cc range will do. If you are going to do longer commutes, possibly some highway riding, then I would go with at least a bike in the 700-850 cc range. If it is your goal to do a lot of touring, then the bigger the better. The bigger bikes provide the most comfort for long highway cruising. Do not be discouraged by the remarks of some of the other “RUDE” posters! Your ability, keen awareness and self confidence are the most important factors in your ability to ride bigger motorcycles.
