Motorcycle Course Texas
Questions on buying a vehicle out of state?
I am currently going to school in Arkansas but I am a resident of Texas with of course a permanent address there too. (my parents house) I’m looking into buying a new motorcycle in Arkansas and will need to take care of all the legal stuff in Texas (registration, taxes, etc…)
My assumption of how I should take care of it is this:
1. Purchase the bike.
2. Purchase insurance on the bike.
3. Go to local tax office where I’m from and register and pay taxes on the bike.
Has anybody done this before and could let me know exactly.
Does anybody know what the tax rate in Texas is?…I think it’s 8% but can’t remember.
I don’t know the tax rate, but you will have to be named on your parents Insurance policy (because all licensed drivers living in a household) have to be named. In Texas, if you have your own Insurance, you may not have to.
