NYC Commuting… KLX 250 SF or DR-Z400SM?
I just passed my MSF course and had a great time doing so, since it was my first time ever riding a motorcycle. We rode for 2 days on GS250s and was very hard to manage at slow speeds (especialy in the stinking U turn Box) because it felt bulky. Now that I have my license I want to get an inexpensive commuter bike to get to/from work. The thought of having a dirtbike with street tires on it, is just appealing to me – they look sick. So I’ve slimmed down my choices to the KLX 250 SF or DR-Z400SM? Anyone have 2 cents?
I knew most people would say the DRZ mostly because of the extra 150cc it puts out. Since I’m riding only city streets I figured a 250cc would be sufficient. Plus the klx is about 1600 cheaper. I’m thinking the winner will be the first one I can find used on craigslist for a reasonable price.
ive got a dual sport bike klr 250 and know a lil bit about supermotos. they turn very easily very manueaverable light bike. from the jap bikes sm’s i would get the drz 400sm its a great bike that will last for a long time the only downside to the bike is no 6th gear. id only buy a drz sm used cause u can find em pretty easily and for a good deal but if i were buying new id buy a brand new old stock 2009 husqvarna sm 610 or now for 2010 theyre 630cc but its a great bike all top of the line parts and totally worth the extra 1000 or so more than a new drz 400 watch some vids of em on youtube
