Does anybody know what it would cost roughly to start-up a self-service auto repair shop. I’m thinking it would be a building with approximately 5 bays to start, fully equipped with at least 2 bays that have car lifts, 1 that has a motorcycle lift. Each bay would have at least 1 large rolling tool box with all of the tools needed to complete basic repairs. There would be an office attached where people could check out bigger tools like battery chargers, allignment machines and check engine light machines. Maybe special tools like electrical testing kits and a few other testing kits. I would also have a small library of auto repair books people can check out if they need help. And I would hire at least 1 ASE certified mechanic who would float around and answer questions to anybody that would need help. He would not work on any cars, but only give friendly advice.
