motorcycle trip in california, suggestions?
hello fellow rider, I was going to do a trip to mainland mexico (im in cabo, baja), but mainland is kind of dangerous right now, so plan b is california, so I ran into this web site and was thinking of copying one of their tours, could you tell me which one is the best to do, or if you have any suggestions, please let me know, I appreciate your help.

By the way, besides: motorcycle drivers license, registration, visa, insurance, what other thing do I need to drive there?
Those tours all look so awful. I’ve never been on one, maybe it wouldn’t be too bad. But I think they try to cover too much too quickly. You can’t really see all of California in 10 days.
But what is there to see? It depends on what you like. California has several distinct regions–desert, mountains, coastline, forests, big cities, etc. If you have 10 days (the tour was 10 days), you could pick two or maybe three of these. For instance you could come up through the Mojave Desert, up to the Gold Country (the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains), spend a couple of days there, then either go up into the mountains, perhaps see Yosemite, then across California to the redwood forests, then home. Or you could come to Los Angeles for two or three days, then up the coast to San Francisco.
I live in the San Francisco area, so I don’t know that much about Southern California. But I would say the greatest ride in California is along the coast from about Santa Barbara up to about Mendocino. Much of it is road on a cliff over the ocean. As you go north, the scenery gets better and better. I also really love the Sierra Nevadas. I ride over the mountain passes every year. Yosemite is very special, unfortunately it’s often crowded. The redwoods are also very nice.
There are several websites devoted to great motorcycle roads in California. We do have some great roads for motorcycling!
You also need a helmet. I can’t think of anything else you didn’t mention.
