Can i use car oil for my 2008 Honda cbr 125 when im breaking it in?
I have heard that i should use regular conventional oil instead of synthetic since the bike is brand new and only has 500kms on it, but the previous owner had left it sitting for a few months so the oil is obviously dirty and needs to be changed. Is it Ok if i use regular conventional car oil because the manual says to use SAE 10w 30 oil but does not specify if it should be motorcycle oil only. I have owned an 03 Yamaha R1 and that specified to use motorcycle oil only, but than again thats a high performance bike. Im not sure, please help because i dont want to pour crap oil in and mess up the bike
USEMOTORCYCLE OIL!
Michael is right. The reason they make motorcycle oil. is because the friction modifiers are not blended with the oil so your bikes transmission, and clutch will work right. Automotive oil can damage a bikes clutch, and does not protect the transmission gears properly.
